Weather on this day was much the same as the last, with calm winds aloft and spotty rain showers throughout the day. We departed Grand Junction in the morning and fortunately the extra weight proved to be not much of a factor. We made a detour to overfly Arches National Park in Utah, and made a loop to do a little brief sightseeing.
After our sightseeing, we headed up towards the Salt Lake City area, via Carbon County and by Soldier Summit. Again there was a little wispy clouds and light rain drizzle about, but we had a smooth easy ride through into the Salt Lake City valley.
We landed at U42 and enjoyed the beautiful snow-capped mountain views while Magic enjoyed a little patch of lush grass. The field seemed busy but we were mostly (beningly) ignored by the staff. I ordered an Uber into the city, where I found us a hotel for 3 nights.
It was Katherine's birthday, so we celebrated by going to a cool restaurant and getting some drinks. The following day I decided that we should get a rental car so we could explore the area some. Unfortunately, it was pretty rainy while we were there, so our drive into Park City was a bit rainy and cloudy, but it was still pretty driving through Emigration Canyon.
Later on we made a brief visit to see the Great Salt Lake and explore the area some more. Unfortunately due to the record snowfall, all the mountain pass roads and canyons were still closed for the year, but we found plenty to occupy our time. Since we had reached our original 'turnaround' point, I started to look at the weather towards mid-week to start heading back east.
