We topped off the tanks with the surprisingly cheap fuel and I sat in the FBO and evaluated the weather situation. As we were in flight to Augusta, almost the entirety of WV, all the way to Niagara, was MVFR or IFR, however during the flight, the forecasted clearing had begun to occur.

Surface Analysis

After 30 minutes on the ground in Augusta, much of western WV had become good VFR (higher scattered/few) and weather continued to clear further north. We loaded back up and climbed up to cross the mountains into WV. Fortunately, the temps aloft allowed filing IFR, so we made the flight at 9k in clear skies. Despite the stiff headwinds, we experienced only brief, minimal turbulence over the mountains.

By the time we arrived to Huntington, the weather was good VFR, with only a thin broken layer to descend through, with temps well above freezing. Upon getting below the clouds, we were greeted with beautiful fall colors everywhere, and the hills around the area make it very scenic on approach. We landed, ordered fuel, and borrowed the crew car (or rather, crew huge SUV). We went into town and walked around a bit and grabbed some lunch.
