Friday afternoon was another half-day, so we left the hotel around noon to return the rental car at the FBO. Got the airplane ready, with the weather being IFR to MVFR. There was quite a lot of calm winds and light rain mist and cloudiness along most of the route to Oklahoma City. Fortunately, the freezing level was forecast to be above my planned cruise of 9000 ft, and we were heading for rapidly descending terrain, so I decided that I was ok with departing IFR.

We took off with calm/variable winds, and were nearly immediately into the indefinite ceiling, and didn't really see the earth again for over an hour and well into Kansas. Fortunately the air was smooth and the temps stayed well above freezing.

As we got near OKC, we were catching up with the cold front, so it was clear we would go no further on Friday. The weather in the area was IFR, so I ended up flying the ILS 35R and breaking out at 700 feet or so, with the winds 20G28 right down the runway.

Got our Uber to the city and grabbed a hotel. Walked around some and found a pretty cool bar (The Blok) in a little container park, and got some sleep.
